My Favourite Shop - "Wunderkammer"

One of the joys of being back in Melbourne is that I get to pop into my favourite little shop, Wunderkammer.

Its no secret that i love all things Taxidermy and the shop holds a vast array of creatures, skeletons, antique globes and scientific instruments along with many fossils and other curiosities. The name, 'Wunderkammer' apparently comes from the German for 'Cabinet of Curiosities'. Over the years people would find odd, strange & fantastic items & assemble these inside usually a glass fronted wooden cabinet.

This trip my pockets weren't deep enough to afford the large taxidermy peacock I fell head over heels in love for (nor would my suitcase accommodate it for the trip back to Perth) but I did still score myself a little Seahorse named Henry which I plan on mounting in a frame.

If you find yourself in Melbourne why not go for a visit!
